Components of the teora® mind bundle

The therapy software teora® mind is shipped together with the necessary hardware. The complete bundle includes the following components:

A mobile VR headset (model: Meta Quest 3S) with two controllers (however, all exercises can also be performed one-handed)
A therapy tablet (model: Samsung Galaxy Tab A) to monitor your patients’ training in real time using teora®Supervisor
Access to the accompanying web app teora®platform

teora® mind is pre-installed on the included VR headset. No additional technical equipment is required. Only a stable and password-protected Wi-Fi network is needed. The Wi-Fi network enables streaming from the VR headset to the tablet via teora® Supervisor and establishes a connection between teora® mind and teora® platform.

Live with teora® Supervisor

teora® Supervisor allows you to always see on your tablet what your patients see in VR. This way, you are always ready to guide them should they find themselves in a pickle. Not only that, you can also observe how they tackle the different exercises and see their progress in real time.

Digital therapy management with teora® platform

The web application teora® platform, included in the teora® bundle, allows you to support patients outside of the therapy room. You can put together personalized therapy plans using selected exercises from teora® mind, evaluate training progress, and make any necessary adjustments to the plan. Of course, teora® platform complies with all applicable data protection regulations.

teora® mind is scientifically proven

The therapy software teora® mind is based on current scientific research findings and was developed in close collaboration with medical professionals and patients. In addition, we conduct our own studies. We have already found that virtual reality, and treatments using it, is well accepted by older adults in general, and by stroke patients in particular. Regardless of prior exposure to virtual reality, participants were able to navigate teora® mind with ease after only a short time. These results were replicated in a further study involving patients with early-stage dementia.

teora® mind is scientifically proven & significantly outperforms the established standard therapy

Additionally, the efficacy of teora® mind was compared with the current standard treatment in a randomized controlled trial. The current gold standard consists of abstract exercises performed on a computer. These involve, for example, selecting fish carrying a pearl or putting the steps for building a snowman in the correct order.

In the study, 42 stroke patients were randomly assigned to receive either standard therapy or treatment with teora® mind. After 4–6 weeks of therapy, consisting of an average of 18.7 treatment sessions lasting 30-45 minutes each, changes in cognitive abilities were measured: the VR group achieved significant improvements in planning and problem-solving. The control group receiving standard therapy showed no improvement. Both groups had the same baseline level.

The treatment was well received by both patients and providers. No serious side effects were observed.

The study results suggest that VR training with teora® mind is a safe and effective treatment option for patients with cognitive deficits.
